Using the penny test is generally the simplest way to see whether you need a tire replacement. Start first by taking a penny and placing it into your tread grooves. If you see the top of Lincoln’s hair, then it may be time to have them replaced. This means your tires are shallow, which makes it difficult for the tires to grip the roads and not to mention how hazardous it is to your safety. However, if Lincoln’s head is hidden by the tread, you have around 2/32” of tread depth left.

Purchasing used tires is recommended especially if you want to save money. It’s known to be a more cost-effective choice since pre-owned cars are sold with used tires already. Our team at Hicks Used Tires evaluates every tire to make sure there is no damage, defects, or leaks. Not only is purchasing used tires environmentally-friendly as you are keeping them out of landfills, but you are using them to their fullest potential while saving more.

It’s not necessary to replace all of your tires when only one of them is damaged. Replacing the defective tire with a used tire is great way to save a significant amount of money. However, it is important to replace the worn tire with one that matches the tread depth and size of your other tires as it may throw of your entire vehicle off balance. Hicks Used Tires can provide a used tire that matches your other tires best in tread depth, size, and brand.
